Quilting Treasures Spirit of the Wind panel was so luscious in color and luminous that you could almost believe that the horse was also flying. I love how the horse colors change and how the eagle wings have a touch of fire to them. Even the moon looks like it caught a little fire with the passing of the animals. The panel needed space for itself, so I was lucky to find the gears fabric which had the perfect gold colors to set it off without attracting too much attention and putting it on point really added to the overall composition. The circular moon gave me the idea to use the drunkards path block, as it lends itself to movement. The inner brown border with feathers added a framing effect and kept the drunkards path blocks from being too much. I really like to add a faux piped binding as the sliver of color can add one more nice touch to a quilt. Then after quilting I added the brown decorative machine stitch in the gold border around the panel.

Quilt dimensions 100 x 98 inches. 110% cotton and batik fabrics and batting.
